cafematic progress

well...

We de-tabbed the frame, cleaned up the frame and gave it a couple layers of truck bed liner coating...

The engine is all cleaned up, the PO paint was removed and we opted for a mill finish engine.

We installed the engine... but are held up now as the gaskets we ordered came in for a  400 and not a 750... bit of a difference..  We're on hold until they come it as we need to tie the bottom end in and get to installing the wheels.

We received the new tapered neck bearings from Low Rider Tommy... so at least we know those will be correct and we can wrap that up and be ready for whenever the correct gaskets come in.

Honda Cafematic

Well, we've been pretty busy just keeping the doors and lights on.  We haven't had a lot of time to post builds and projects.  However, we'll try to do better.

Latest build is a café for a customer that wants a automatic.  I know... I know... and before the rabid emails start regarding desecrating a matic...or how can a café not have a clutch...  It doesn't really matter... it's what they want...and it's not too crazy.

So, we started off with a donor matic, running but with a lot of issues.  They were mostly minor but we will need to tear everything down to make sure we've got everything correct.

First off was to get rid of that windjammer...and the corresponding bird nest of wiring that goes along with it.  Then we needed to pull the pipes as they were rusted and seamed together with aluminum beer cans.

The carbs will need to be changed to "K" model carbs to open up the breathing.  We mocked up the wheels in black and found that the brakes were shot...they delaminated as we pulled them off.

We'll pull the engine and give it good cleaning and polish.  Paint the frame shave off the misc bits and bobs...
Trying to find out what tank and seat combo to run.... After many changes..back and forth...back and forth... looks like it's settling on this.
